Overview
The L6563S is a current-mode Power Factor Correction (PFC) controller designed by STMicroelectronics, operating in transition mode (TM). It offers improved performance and additional functions compared to its predecessor, the L6563. The device features a highly linear multiplier and a special correction circuit that reduces crossover distortion of the mains current, enabling wide-range-mains operation with extremely low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) even over a large load range. The output voltage is controlled by a voltage-mode error amplifier and an accurate internal voltage reference. The IC also includes various protection functions and interface capabilities for cascaded converters, making it suitable for high-power applications.
