Overview
The L6563 is an advanced transition-mode Power Factor Correction (PFC) controller designed by STMicroelectronics. It is built on the core of a standard TM PFC controller and offers improved performance along with additional functionalities. This IC is particularly suited for applications requiring high power factor and low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) over a wide range of mains voltages and load conditions.
The device features a highly linear multiplier and a special correction circuit that reduces crossover distortion of the mains current, enabling wide-range-mains operation with extremely low THD. The output voltage is controlled using a voltage-mode error amplifier and an accurate internal voltage reference.
