The attach rate of Wi-Fi for these applications is projected to increase sharply over the next five years. U-blox claims the RUBY-W2 can play a key role in improving user experiences with features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
What Does RUBY-W2 Bring to the Table?
U-blox designed the RUBY-W2 to cater to the current and future needs of the automotive industry. The devices come in two variants: the RUBY-W273-05A and the RUBY-W295-05a. Both modules support Wi-Fi 7 technology, which is expected to enhance vehicle connectivity, ensuring drivers and passengers enjoy faster and more reliable internet access.
The RUBY-W273-05A variant will support dual-band simultaneous (DBS) operation, allowing it to transmit data over both the 5-and 6-GHz bands concurrently. The RUBY-W295 variant features high-band simultaneous (HBS) capabilities, which optimize data throughput and performance by leveraging the high-band spectrum more effectively. Each module will support the requirements for in-car hotspots, Apple CarPlay displays, and video streaming for multiple clients with data delivery speeds of up to 5.8 Gbit/s. They support dual-mode Bluetooth 5.4 alongside simultaneous Wi-Fi operations, enabling multi-role functionality (AP, STA, P2P) and robust security features.
Compatibility With Snapdragon Auto Connectivity
The RUBY-W2 is compatible with Qualcomm's Snapdragon Auto Connectivity Platform, an advanced framework designed to support the increasing demands of software-defined vehicles. It offers connectivity, precise positioning, and high-performance computing, enabling various in-cabin applications.
