Overview
The LM95233CISD, produced by National Semiconductor (now part of Texas Instruments), is an advanced 11-bit digital temperature sensor. It features a 2-wire System Management Bus (SMBus) interface, enabling it to monitor the temperature of two remote diodes as well as its own local temperature. This device is particularly useful for accurately sensing the die temperature of external devices such as microprocessors, graphics processors, or diode-connected transistors like the 2N3904.
The LM95233CISD incorporates TruTherm™ BJT beta compensation technology, which allows for precise sensing of thermal diodes in sub-micron process technologies, including Intel processors on 65 nm and 90 nm processes. The device reports temperature in two different formats: +127.875°C/–128°C and 0°C/255°C ranges.
