Overview
The HEF4040BT, produced by NXP USA Inc., is a 12-stage binary ripple counter. This integrated circuit features a clock input (CP) and an overriding asynchronous master reset input (MR), along with twelve fully buffered outputs (Q0 to Q11). The counter advances on the HIGH-to-LOW transition of the clock input. A HIGH signal on the master reset input clears all counter stages and forces all outputs to LOW, independent of the clock input. Each counter stage is a static toggle flip-flop, and the inputs are overvoltage tolerant up to 15 V, enabling the device to be used in HIGH-to-LOW level shifting applications.
