TVS Diodes
TVS Diodes, or Transient Voltage Suppressor Diodes, are semiconductor devices designed to protect electronic circuits from voltage spikes. These spikes, often caused by lightning strikes, electrostatic discharge (ESD), or inductive load switching, can damage sensitive components. TVS Diodes operate by clamping the voltage to a safe level, effectively absorbing the excess energy and preventing it from reaching the protected circuit. They achieve this through their ability to switch from a high-impedance state to a low-impedance state when the voltage exceeds a certain threshold, thus diverting the surge current away from the protected components.
