Coder/Decoder (CODECs)
Coder/Decoder (CODECs) are integral components in the realm of Interface Integrated Circuits (ICs), serving as the bridge between analog and digital signals. Their primary function is to encode analog signals into digital data for processing, storage, or transmission, and subsequently decode digital data back into analog signals for playback or further analog processing. CODECs operate on the principle of sampling analog signals at specific intervals, converting these samples into digital form using an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), and then reconstructing the analog signal from digital data using a Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC). This dual functionality makes CODECs indispensable in modern electronic systems, facilitating seamless communication between different signal domains.
