Overview
The L6599ATD is an improved revision of the previous L6599A, designed by STMicroelectronics. It is a double-ended controller specifically tailored for series-resonant half bridge topology. This controller provides a 50% complementary duty cycle, where the high-side and low-side switches are driven ON/OFF 180° out-of-phase for exactly the same time. Output voltage regulation is achieved by modulating the operating frequency, and a fixed deadtime ensures soft-switching and high-frequency operation. The IC incorporates a high voltage floating structure to drive the high-side switch using the bootstrap approach, and it includes a synchronous-driven high voltage DMOS to replace the external fast-recovery bootstrap diode.
